It’s no secret that we’re facing tough times right
now. Yet, as our hard-working residents struggle to make ends meet, our tax dollars continue to be wasted by politicians in
Lansing who are out of touch with reality. It is my belief that in order to create jobs and fix the economy, we will need
to first fix the way Lansing does business.
As someone
who has lived in Lenawee County my entire life and raised my family here, I know that it’s far past time for our state
government to work for our community and for us. I will fight to create a leaner government that stops wasteful spending and
uses our taxpayer dollars wisely.
As the owner of
three area pharmacies and as a pharmacist for more than 30 years, I know firsthand the difficulties that small business owners
are facing. The state must do more to support our small businesses because they are the ones that create jobs and drive our
economy. As mayor of Tecumseh, I’ve worked to build relationships with our small business owners and support this vital
part of our economy. I am committed to making Michigan the best place in the nation to start and grow small businesses.
I will continue my fight, as I have in Tecumseh, to bring new companies and
emerging industries to our communities making use of vacant manufacturing facilities and creating new campuses for development,
much like Tecumseh’s new Business and Technology Park.
I
know that the middle class is getting squeezed in all directions these days. I have seen our families and neighbors struggle
with the decision to choose between buying food, making a house payment, or paying for much-needed medications. I am dedicated
to supporting and protecting our middle class and making sure our interests – not the big banks and other special interests
– come first.
It’s time that Lansing
works for us. I am committed to making that happen by being an independent voice for Lenawee County residents. Please join
me as I work to take my fight – our fight – to Lansing.
Sincerely,
Harvey Schmidt
